Description You a first-time debater or a novice? This is a 10-Week Fundamentals of Debating curriculum This comprehensive curriculum is designed to take novices and give them the skills and confidence to excel at debating, whether it's around the dinner table or at a National Speech and Debate Association competition. Aligned with Common Core English Language Arts Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing Standards for grades 5 and above, this Beginning Debate Curriculum includes games and exercises to strengthen skills and engage even the most introverted students. Key Features: Two major debate styles: Big Questions and Lincoln-Douglas Both can be made available as moderated and open-ended debates, but closely supervised. What Students Will Learn: The basics of debate structure and strategies Techniques for effective research and argumentation Strategies for refuting opposing arguments Skills for confidently presenting and defending your position Similarities and differences between different debate styles
